LIZELLA, GA — A Georgia sheriff’s deputy, who was previously honored as “Deputy of the Year,” was arrested last week for allegedly attempting to direct traffic outside an elementary school while intoxicated, according to police.

Deputy Garrison Page, who had been with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office for only eight days, was discovered at Skyview Elementary School in Lizella last Tuesday by Board of Education officers. Page, dressed in plain clothes but driving a patrol car, was allegedly slurring his words and standing unsteadily, according to the incident report obtained by NBC affiliate WMGT.

When questioned about his actions and whether he needed medical attention, Page reportedly responded, “None of your business.” Officers noted that he walked away at one point to continue standing in the road, despite there being no cars in the area.

The 19th incident report stated that Page, a former Bibb County law enforcement officer, appeared visibly impaired while talking to officers. He was arrested at the scene and charged with driving under the influence.

Officials from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office have not publicly commented on Page’s employment status following the arrest.
