Two assault arrests reported in Cumberland

Cumberland police made two second-degree assault arrests in unrelated incidents on Saturday, holding both suspects without bond.

CUMBERLAND, Md. — Officers from the Cumberland Police Department arrested two individuals in separate incidents of assault reported on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Both suspects were remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center and held without bond.

In the first case, police responded to a residence in the 100 block of Oldtown Road where they found a victim who alleged she had been assaulted by Jason Poling, 42, of Cumberland. Officers observed injuries consistent with the victim’s statements. After an investigation, Poling was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

In a separate incident, officers responded to another residence in the same area after a man reported being assaulted by Amanda Brown, 44, also of Cumberland. The victim showed injuries matching his account of the assault. Following an investigation, Brown was taken into custody and also charged with second-degree assault.

Both cases are being handled by local authorities as the suspects await court proceedings.
