ROXBURY TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A large sinkhole has caused significant traffic disruptions on Interstate 80 eastbound, leading to heavy congestion and extended travel times in Morris County, officials said Thursday.

The affected stretch of highway runs from east of Exit 27 (NJ 183/US 206 in Roxbury Township) to west of Exit 34 (NJ 15 in Wharton). As of 11:48 a.m., drivers are experiencing delays of 70 to 75 minutes in the area, according to traffic reports.

Crews are on-site assessing the damage caused by the sinkhole, which has impacted lane usage and created hazardous driving conditions. There is no immediate timeline for repairs or when normal traffic flow will resume.

Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes and exercise caution while traveling near the affected section of I-80. Officials are working to minimize disruptions and ensure driver safety.
