Montgomery County police drone helps locate missing child, assists in multiple arrests

by Local News Report

GAITHERSBURG, MD – A high-tech police drone played a crucial role in locating a missing 5-year-old and assisting in multiple arrests during three separate incidents in Montgomery County.

On March 13, officers responded to a theft in progress on Thayer Avenue, where the drone, known as RAVEN, tracked two fleeing suspects and guided police to their location.

Later in the day, RAVEN was deployed to find a missing child near Pennydog Court, successfully identifying the child’s location and reuniting them with their parents.

That evening, the drone assisted in another theft investigation at a Nike store on Arlington Road, helping officers locate and arrest four suspects.

In total, RAVEN was deployed 17 times that day, proving to be a valuable asset in police operations.
