WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett said over the weekend that the decision to go to war should rest with Congress following reports that President Donald Trump ordered airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
“To understand enough about the Constitution to the extent that I’m the one that’s supposed to make a fucking decision or at least get a vote,” Crockett said in a video clip circulating online.
Crockett, a Democrat representing Texas’ 30th congressional district, made the statement in response to what she described as being left out of the process of approving military action.
Trump’s strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure reportedly took place late Friday night, targeting several sites believed to be associated with Iran’s weapons development. U.S. officials maintain that Iran no longer has the power to further enrich uranium to produce nuclear weapons.
