One million dollar Powerball ticket in Clinton days from vanishing as March 15 deadline looms

CLINTON, MD — A $1 million Powerball ticket sold at a Prince George’s County liquor store is set to expire March 15, leaving the prize unclaimed just weeks before the deadline.

The second-tier winning ticket was purchased at Chesapeake Liquors, 8853 Branch Avenue in Clinton, for the Sept. 13 Powerball drawing. The ticket matched all five white balls but did not match the Powerball, making it worth $1 million.

Lottery officials said the Clinton ticket is the largest unclaimed prize currently nearing expiration in Maryland.

Several other high-value tickets also remain unclaimed:

  • A $50,000 Powerball ticket sold at Liberty Road Liquors, 1708 Liberty Road in Sykesville, for the Sept. 6 drawing expires March 7.
  • A $50,000 Powerball ticket sold at Howard Wine & Spirits, 7700 Hearthside Way in Elkridge, for the Aug. 30 drawing expires Feb. 28.
  • A $50,000 Powerball ticket sold at Fairland Exxon, 13400 Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring, for the Sept. 6 drawing expires March 7.

  • A $50,000 Bonus Match 5 ticket sold Nov. 2 at Giant, 405 North Center Street in Westminster, expires May 3.

Draw game tickets expire 182 days after the drawing date. FAST PLAY tickets expire 182 days after purchase. Scratch-off expiration dates are posted on the Maryland Lottery website.

Winners of prizes larger than $25,000 must claim their tickets at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore by appointment. Prizes up to $25,000 can be claimed at the cashier window of any Maryland casino. Prizes up to $5,000 may be claimed at Expanded Cashing Authority Program locations, and prizes up to $600 can be redeemed at authorized retailers.

Unless the ticket holder steps forward by March 15, the $1 million prize sold in Clinton will go unclaimed.
