Barricade ends with arrest after overnight standoff
SEVERN, Md. — A shots-fired call in a Severn neighborhood escalated into a police barricade Sunday night before officers took a suspect into custody following a standoff at a nearby home.
According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:20 p.m. Aug. 9 to the 1800 block of Severn Hills Lane after receiving reports of gunfire.
Investigators said they learned a suspect inside a pickup truck fired at a vehicle that was leaving the community.
As officers investigated, they located the suspected pickup truck parked in the driveway of a residence in the 1800 block of Severn Hills Lane.
Police established a perimeter around the home, and members of the department’s Quick Response Team responded to the scene in an effort to persuade the suspect to come outside.
The suspect eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.
Police identified the suspect as 48-year-old Aaron C. Acors of Severn. Authorities said he was charged in connection with the incident.
The charges are allegations, and Acors is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
