BRONX, N.Y. – A 15-year-old boy has been indicted on second-degree murder charges for fatally shooting a man near the Bronx Hall of Justice last November, prosecutors announced.
Jayden Baez, of College Avenue, was arraigned on charges including second-degree murder, attempted murder, first-degree assault, and multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon, Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark said. He was remanded and is due back in court on May 16.
Prosecutors said Baez shot and killed 29-year-old Jerron Grant across the street from the courthouse on November 27, 2024, around 2:42 p.m. He allegedly fled from police and was arrested on a rooftop at 303 E. 158th Street, where officers recovered a .40-caliber Taurus Millennium PT pistol.
Authorities also linked the firearm to two prior shootings. On November 20, Baez allegedly handed the gun to 17-year-old Ley Baio, who then gave it to a third suspect who fired into a crowd on Jackson Avenue, wounding a 65-year-old woman. On October 14, Baez allegedly fired multiple shots into a group of people in Mott Haven.
