Brooklyn man sentenced to seven years in prison for revenge shooting that wounded wrong man

BRONX, NY — A Brooklyn man who fired multiple shots at a group of innocent people, believing they were involved in his friend’s murder, was sentenced to seven years in prison, Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced.

Wilfredo Solano, 28, pleaded guilty to attempted assault in the first degree in December 2024 for the June 1, 2023 shooting on Claremont’s College Avenue. Bronx Supreme Court Justice Timothy Lewis also imposed five years of post-release supervision as part of the sentence.

According to the investigation, Solano, along with 23-year-old Shameek Parker of the Bronx and other unidentified accomplices, fired at least 10 shots from four firearms at three men riding Citi Bikes near 1311 College Avenue around 8:15 p.m. Solano personally fired three times at point-blank range, striking a 19-year-old man in the knee.

The shooting was captured on video, and authorities said Solano targeted the group in retaliation for the murder of his friend, Antoine Strong, who was killed the night before in the same area by suspects also riding Citi Bikes. However, the individuals Solano attacked had no connection to Strong’s death.

District Attorney Clark called the attack “senseless” and underscored the accountability brought by the criminal justice system. Two defendants in the murder of Antoine Strong are awaiting trial.
