CUMBERLAND, MD – A 38-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning after police say he caused a disturbance outside a business on Greene Street while intoxicated and attempted to gain entry to several vehicles.

Officers with the Cumberland Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 11:06 a.m. on January 27 after receiving reports of a disorderly male drawing attention from customers and trying to open parked vehicles.

The man, later identified as Robert Paul Bennett Jr., was found yelling and acting belligerently when officers arrived. Police say he was uncooperative and continued to create a disturbance despite being warned.

He was placed under arrest and charged with multiple offenses, including malicious destruction of property under $1,000 after allegedly damaging one of the vehicles. Bennett was later brought before a District Court Commissioner and released on a $2,500 unsecured personal bond.
