Early morning burglary rattles Northeast DC business as MPD searches for suspect

WASHINGTON, DC — Just before dawn on Thanksgiving morning, a burglar broke into a business along H Street NE, causing property damage and fleeing with stolen merchandise in a crime that remains under investigation.

The incident took place around 5:00 a.m. on November 27 in the 500 block of H Street, Northeast. Responding officers arrived to find that suspects had forcibly entered the establishment, damaged property inside, and made off with items before escaping.

At least one of the suspects was captured on surveillance footage, and police are now releasing an image in hopes the public can help identify the individual. The suspect’s photo was shared Tuesday by the Metropolitan Police Department, which continues to pursue leads in the case.

Officials have not disclosed the name of the business or the value of the stolen goods. No injuries were reported.

The MPD is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of anyone involved in the burglary. Tipsters are urged not to approach suspects but to call the department at (202) 727-9099 or send information via the anonymous TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
