Easton man hits $50K Powerball win with lone $2 ticket

Easton man wins $50K Powerball prize with single $2 ticket at local gas station

Easton, MD – A Talbot County man who bought a single $2 Powerball ticket at a gas station in Easton walked away with a $50,000 prize in Saturday’s $1.7 billion jackpot drawing—just one number and one dollar away from doubling his winnings.

The Easton resident picked up the ticket on Sept. 6 at the Bypass Crown gas station on Marlboro Avenue, a spot he frequently visits for lottery and scratch-off purchases. Without adding any extras, he opted for a basic Powerball draw—no Power Play, no add-ons.

Later that evening, he checked his ticket at home and discovered he had matched four of the five white balls, along with the red Powerball. The win locked in a third-tier $50,000 prize.

Although pleased with the outcome, the player noted that if he had spent an additional dollar on the Power Play feature, his prize would have doubled to $100,000 thanks to the 2X multiplier drawn that night.

He claimed the prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters on Sept. 9 and said he plans to invest the winnings. The lucky ticket was one of multiple winners across the state, though Maryland did not produce any jackpot winners in the massive draw.

The $1.7 billion jackpot remains unclaimed, continuing to fuel national interest in the next drawing.
