Suspected drugs found while warrant was being served

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Cumberland woman indicted on felony narcotics charges is facing additional allegations after police said suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia were discovered during her arrest Monday.

According to the Cumberland Police Department, officers served a grand jury indictment on Aug. 10 charging 26-year-old Aleta Snowden with narcotics distribution offenses.

Police said Snowden had originally been charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute narcotics and possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis.

While carrying out the arrest, officers conducted a search and allegedly found suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia on Snowden, according to police.

She was issued two additional criminal citations related to the alleged discoveries.

Snowden was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center, where she is awaiting a hearing.

The charges are allegations, and Snowden is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
