Fugitive accused of killing DC man at MGM National Harbor arrested

A man accused of gunning down a Washington, DC, resident inside the parking garage at MGM National Harbor has been arrested after spending more than two years on the run, police said.

OXON HILL, Md. — The suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man inside the parking garage at MGM National Harbor Hotel and Casino in 2024 is now in custody, according to Prince George’s County police.

Police said 28-year-old Dayon Neal, who has no fixed address, was arrested Monday in Charles County in connection with the killing of 37-year-old Daniel Antonio Thomas of Washington, DC.

The shooting occurred on May 11, 2024, at about 4:50 a.m. in the 100 block of MGM National Avenue.

Officers responded after MGM Special Police and Security reported a shooting and found Thomas suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking garage. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators identified Neal as the suspect several days after the killing and obtained an arrest warrant.

On Monday, members of the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Fugitive Unit, which is part of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested Neal in Charles County. Police said the Charles County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the arrest.

The investigation determined that Neal and Thomas did not know each other before the shooting. Investigators have not released a motive, and the case remains under investigation.

Neal is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and related offenses.
