Late-night boating crash in stamford harbor sent four to the hospital

STAMFORD, Conn. — Four people were injured Saturday night when a center-console boat struck the Stamford Harbor break wall, prompting a multi-agency emergency response, officials said.

The Stamford Emergency Communications Center received an automated iPhone alert at approximately 9:59 p.m., which dispatchers traced to a boating accident. The alert initially appeared to signal a motor vehicle crash.

Stamford Fire Department’s Marine Unit, land-based fire units, Stamford EMS, and Stamford Police responded to the incident. Fireboat 236 located the damaged vessel taking on water at the break wall.

Two injured female passengers were taken aboard the fireboat and transported to Czescik Marina while receiving care from firefighters. Stamford EMS met the boat at the dock and took over medical transport to Stamford Hospital.

The vessel, which could not be saved, remained at the break wall with two male occupants until Stamford Police transported them to the marina for EMS evaluation.

Fireboat 236 later returned to mark the vessel’s location for recovery operations. The Noroton Fire Department and Darien Police Marine Units assisted in the response.

“This incident is a sobering reminder of how quickly things can go wrong on the water—especially at night,” said Deputy Fire Chief Philip Hayes.
