AKRON, OH — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of using a stolen debit card belonging to an elderly woman during two separate transactions at a bank branch inside a local grocery store.

The suspect was caught on surveillance cameras inside the US Bank located within Dave’s Supermarket at 871 E. Exchange Street. According to investigators, the stolen card was used twice — once on October 13 and again on November 2.

The Akron Police Department released images of the suspect on social media Monday and asked anyone with information to come forward. Details regarding how the debit card was initially stolen have not been disclosed.

Police say the individual used the victim’s card without authorization, but the exact amount taken or purchased was not provided. The identity of the elderly victim has not been released.

The department is urging anyone who recognizes the suspect to contact Detective C. Hill at 330-375-2600 or through the department’s tip line at 330-375-2Tip. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS, by texting TIPSCO to 274637, or via the Akron PD app using Tips411.

Police emphasized that the suspect should not be approached if seen and advised residents to call 911 immediately with any sightings.
