Montclair Police Department Issues Advisory for Upcoming Winter Storm

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair Police Department is alerting residents about a significant winter storm expected to hit the area starting tonight, February 12, 2024, and continuing through Tuesday, February 13, 2024. The storm is forecasted to bring 5 to 8 inches of snow, and the department will be monitoring the situation closely to determine if street clearance operations are necessary.

In preparation for the storm, the department reminds residents that parking on snow-covered streets is prohibited under Township ordinance 327-25. This ban will remain in effect for 12 hours following the cessation of snowfall to aid in snow removal efforts. Police enforcement will include ticketing and towing of vehicles found in violation of this ordinance during the storm period.

For those seeking alternative parking arrangements, the municipality is offering free parking in municipal lots and the Midtown Deck located at 292 Glenridge Ave., starting from 6 P.M. on Monday, February 12, 2024, until the streets have been cleared of snow. It is important to note that the Bay Street, Fullerton Roof, and Crescent Decks will not be available for this free parking offer.

The Montclair Police Department emphasizes that 911 should be used only for emergencies. Residents are encouraged to report any non-emergency winter storm-related issues to the police non-emergency number at 973-744-1234.
