SHARPES, FL – The mother of one of two teens shot and killed by Brevard County deputies two weeks ago was shot at her son’s funeral at Riverview Memorial Cemetery in Sharpes, Florida.   Quasheda Pierce, 39, was hit by an accidental misfire from a gun at her son’s funeral.  The gun was in the possession of a 16-year-old boy.  The boy sustained a gunshot wound through his leg. The bullet then hit Pierce, nearby in the leg.   The shot rang out as Sincere Pierce’s casket was being lowered into the ground, police said.

Pierce was one of two teens shot and killed during a traffic stop on November 13th.  He and Angelo Crooms tried to flee from deputies and both teens were shot and killed as their angled their car towards a deputy and began to drive towards him.  The deputy fired several shots into the vehicle, killing both teens.

Deputies, Jafet Santiago-Miranda and Carson Hendren were identified as the officers that fired the shots that resulted in the deaths.   Both have been placed on administrative leave during the investigation. Two firearms were recovered from the vehicle.
