MTA bus crashes into Yonkers storefront, driver hospitalized

Yonkers, NY – A midday crash involving an MTA bus sent emergency crews to the intersection of Warburton Avenue and Ashburton Avenue Friday after the vehicle veered off the road and slammed into a building.

The incident occurred around 1:15 p.m., when the bus, occupied only by the driver, struck a storefront. Two parked and unoccupied vehicles were also hit during the collision.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. No passengers were on board, and no other injuries were reported.

Yonkers Fire Department and the city’s Department of Housing and Buildings responded to evaluate the structural integrity of the impacted building. Crews will remain at the scene until the bus is removed and a full assessment is completed.

As of now, Warburton Avenue remains closed between Ashburton Avenue and Wells Avenue while the investigation and cleanup continue.
