Utica provider taken into custody after alleged inappropriate exam

Utica medical provider arrested after patient reports inappropriate exam and messages

Utica, NY — A visit to a medical office led to a criminal charge after a patient reported an examination they believed was unnecessary, followed by direct messages from the provider that raised further concern.

The report was made to the Utica Police Department on March 16, 2026, when the individual described an encounter during an appointment for an unrelated issue. According to the complaint, the provider conducted an invasive physical examination that the patient later questioned and abruptly ended before leaving the office.

After the appointment, the patient reported receiving multiple text messages from the provider. Investigators said the nature of those communications contributed to concerns about whether the examination had a legitimate medical purpose.

The case was assigned to the department’s Criminal Investigations Division, where detectives reviewed both the reported procedure and the communications.
