Driver busted after illegal car rally as stolen gun found in vehicle, police say

LAUREL, Md. — A late-night illegal car rally involving dozens of vehicles led to an arrest after officers discovered a stolen, loaded handgun inside one driver’s car, police said.

The incident unfolded around 11:30 p.m. on March 13 in the 14400 block of Cherry Lane, where officers found roughly 100 vehicles participating in the gathering.

Authorities said the crowd was dispersed, and officers conducted a traffic stop on one vehicle leaving the area.

The driver, identified as 20-year-old Diego Emmanuel Guerra of Woodbridge, Virginia, was taken into custody.

During the stop, officers recovered a loaded handgun from inside the vehicle. Investigators later determined the weapon had been reported stolen out of Texas.

Guerra is facing multiple handgun-related charges, including possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a stolen gun.

He was transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.

Police officials warned that illegal car rallies pose serious safety risks and said enforcement efforts will continue.
