Women in Afghanistan’s capital city of Kabul, for two days joined in protest against the Taliban’s treatment of women. The group was marching to demand equal rights for women under the new Taliban government.
Instead, Taliban special forces in camouflage uniforms fired their rifles into the air to bring an abrupt end to the protest.
"Do not recognise the Taliban or legitimise them"
A 2nd day of protests held by brave women in Kabul. The West & countries in the region have already abandoned Afghan women. But their recognition of the Taliban could make things even worse for them
Afghan women are an inspiration. They continue to protest in Kabul demanding equal rights even under Taliban rule. Taliban members with guns try to stop the protest. Yet they fail to stop the screaming women. pic.twitter.com/aO3bAo6pkN
