ABERDEEN, MARYLAND – A $50,000 Maryland Lottery scratch-off win will make the holidays merrier for an Aberdeen player.
Asked if he had any plans for his windfall, the happy Harford County resident said, “The question in my house is whether you need socks or underwear for Christmas. I’ll probably get both this year.”
The 46-year-old is the secondary Lottery player in his family. His fiancée is a Lottery aficionado. In the case of this top-prize scratch-off win, he bought a $5 Gold Bar Bingo instant ticket, his fiancée scratched it and they decided it would be easier if he cashed it on his own.
All joking aside, as for actual plans for the prize, he said the money is helpful because he is between jobs while awaiting a surgical procedure. In addition, he needs a newer vehicle to replace his aging auto, which has around 250,000 miles on the odometer.
Meanwhile, they plan to continue playing scratch-offs. Prior to claiming the big prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, the duo purchased another scratch-off and hit for $500, which is a nice score and one the pair has won in the past.
Also getting lucky is One Stop Liquors at 903 Pulaski Highway in Havre de Grace. The Harford County retailer earns a $500 bonus for selling a top-prize winning instant ticket at the $50,000 level. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
The Gold Bar Bingo game is a $5 scratch-off with four more $50,000 top prizes remaining along with six unclaimed $10,000 prizes and four more $5,000 prizes.
