U.S. Marshals Service Pays Reward for Arrest in 2020 Homicide of 10-Year-Old Child

by DOJ Press

Memphis, TN
– U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announces that the
United States Marshals Service (USMS) has approved the payment of a
reward for information that led to an arrest in the homicide of
10-year-old Jadon Knox.

On January 19, 2020, Jadon was found shot to
death while standing on the front porch of a home in the 700 block of
Josephine Avenue in the Orange Mound community of Memphis.

On October 29, 2020, the Marshals Service
announced a partnership with the Memphis Police Department in solving
the homicides of eight children who had been murdered in 2020, including
Jadon, by offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the
identification and apprehension of suspects.
On July 25, 2021, MPD
arrested and charged Martavis Ayers with Reckless Homicide, Tampering
with Evidence, and Making a False Report in connection to Jadon’s
murder.

The Marshals Service determined that the
information met the qualifications under USMS confidential source
guidelines, and the tipster will be paid a reward. The Marshals Service
neither identifies the names of tipsters nor provides details regarding
reward amounts.

“The sudden, unexpected loss of a child is a
tragedy,” said Marshal Miller. “The Marshals Service remains committed
to our community partners, like the Memphis Police Department, and we’re
pleased to play a role in helping to bring Jadon’s killer to justice.”

The cases listed below are the remaining seven
unsolved child homicide cases in 2020. Tipsters may call Crime Stoppers
at 901-528-CASH (2274). They can also call the MPD Homicide Office at
901-636-3300 and ask to speak with an investigator. The Marshals Service
will pay up to $5,000 per case for
