GREENBELT CITY, MD – The Greenbelt City police department has announced an arrest related to a shooting that took place as students were walking home from school on Wednesday.

On Friday, the Greenbelt Police Department, alongside partners at the Prince George’s County Police Department, arrested a 13-year-old juvenile in connection with the shooting that occurred on September 7 in the area of Springhill Ln and Springhill Dr.

“The victim reported he and a group of middle-school-aged juveniles were walking home around 4:20 p.m. when a juvenile male suspect fired several rounds at the group. None of the boys were injured,” police said.

“The juvenile was charged with multiple offenses, including second-degree attempted murder and additional firearm-related charges, and transported to the Cheltenham Youth Detention Center,” police said. “The Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office Youth Justice Division consulted on this case. As the offender is a juvenile, no further information will be released.”
