Police Investigating Burglary and Attempted Rape in Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, MD – A Silver Spring woman was attacked by an unknown man as she was entering her apartment Friday morning according to the Montgomery County Police Department. Police said the attack happened at around 10:30 a.m. as she was entering her apartment on the 800 block of Northampton Drive.

“An adult female stated that as she was entering her apartment at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022, she was attacked from behind by an unknown race male,” police said in a statement today. “There was a physical struggle between the victim and suspect, during which time, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim. The victim screamed and the suspect ran from the apartment in an unknown direction.”

The woman reported the suspect as wearing a black ski mask with a black hooded sweatshirt. He wore tan or gray parents and did not say anything to the woman during the attack.
