A new state record for the largest cumulative jackpot in the history of the state’s Pick 4 lottery has been set.
According to the New Jersey Lottery, Pick-4 players in the state won over $1 million in a single day for the first time ever.
“The winning numbers for the evening drawing on December 28th were 1, 9, 5, and 6, awarding the majority of the $1,023,210 in prizes won yesterday,” the lottery commission said. “This significant payout is the result of the game change that took place on November 14, 2022, which made it possible for players to win such a large amount in a single day. In fact, this is the largest single day payout for Pick-4 in the history of the game.”
None of the prizes were huge, but there were a lot of them.
“There were 267 tickets that won $2,500 each playing 1956 straight based on a $0.50 wager. This is a major increase from the last time 1, 9, 5, and 6 were drawn straight on October 16, 2016, when players only won $842 each based on the same $0.50 straight wager,” the state said.
“We are thrilled to see Pick-4 players in New Jersey experiencing such success and want to congratulate all the winners on their big payouts,” said Executive Director James Carey. “We encourage all players to keep playing and trying their luck with this exciting game.”
