Two Drivers Injured in DWI-Related Crash on I-278

LINDEN, NJ – A serious motor vehicle crash occurred on Tuesday, at around 7:00 p.m., at the intersection of Interstate 278 W and Morses Mill Road. According to preliminary reports, a 2020 Nissan Altima driven by Wesley Davis, 45, of Avenel, was traveling west on I-278 when it struck a 1999 Buick Lesabre crossing the intersection from the left turn lane exiting I-278 at Morses Mill Rd.

The traffic signal at the intersection was damaged during the crash, impacting traffic for several hours. All lanes have since been reopened.

Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were transported to Newark University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Davis was later arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
