WASHINGTON, DC – A 24-year-old man from Maryland lost his life after his vehicle collided head-on with a Metrobus on June 6th. The collision occurred at the intersection of Minnesota Ave. NE and Benning Road NE at around midnight, prompting the closure of the intersection for investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as 24-year-old Marion Dante Fields from Clinton, Maryland, sustained critical injuries in the crash. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Two passengers in another vehicle were also injured but were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.

According to a preliminary investigation, the Metrobus was traveling eastbound on Benning Road, NE. As the bus initiated a left turn onto Minnesota Avenue, NE, a Nissan Altima traveling in the opposite direction, heading westbound, suddenly veered into the left lane and collided head-on with the bus.

Additionally, seven individuals on the Metrobus suffered injuries; however, none were believed to be life-threatening.
