NYPD releases photo of fugitive subway rapist

NEW YORK, NY – A woman was raped aboard a subway train in lower Manhattan and now the New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspected rapist.

The incident took place on Friday, June 9, at approximately 9:10 PM, on a southbound MTA ‘J’ train at the Chambers Street station.

According to the report, an unknown male approached a 29-year-old female victim on the train. The suspect had his penis exposed and attempted to force the victim into performing oral sex. Subsequently, he punched the victim, pinned her to the ground, and tried to remove her clothing. During the struggle, the suspect forcefully took the victim’s cellphone, currency, and keys.

Fortunately, the victim managed to escape to safety off the train, while the suspect remained onboard as it continued heading southbound. The victim was subsequently transported by Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The NYPD is now seeking assistance in identifying the sought individual. He is described as a male with a dark complexion, aged between 30 and 40 years old, standing approximately 5’6” to 5’7” tall. At the time of the incident, he was seen wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt and pants, along with black and white sneakers.
