Zanesville Shooting Under Investigation, Suspect in Custody

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Zanesville Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that transpired Wednesday morning in the Muskingum Avenue area. The police received a 911 call around 9:45 a.m. about a shooting. Officers and detectives reached the scene at 1018 West Main Street, where they found a male victim who had been shot and physically assaulted.

The incident reportedly occurred at a shop on Muskingum Avenue. A person of interest is currently in custody, and multiple witnesses have been questioned. The suspect reportedly attempted to take an officer’s gun while being escorted to the police cruiser. The victim, whose identity is undisclosed, was initially transported to a local hospital and later transferred to a Columbus hospital. His condition is listed as critical.
