Woman Carjacked at Newark Gas Station

NEWARK, DE – A carjacking that took place at a Sunoco gas station in Newark is being investigated by the Delaware State Police.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, around 1:21 am, when troopers responded to the station located at 520 JFK Memorial Highway.

According to a 37-year-old woman, an unknown vehicle with two men and one woman parked in front of hers at the gas pumps. She reported that one of the men, armed with a firearm, approached her, demanded that she exit her car, and then drove off with her vehicle, along with the second vehicle, in an unknown direction. The woman remained unharmed.

As of now, there are no additional descriptions of the suspects. Surveillance video and images from the scene are still being processed.

The Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is overseeing this case. Detectives urge anyone with information to contact Detective R. Kirchenbauer at 302-365-8428. Information can also be sent privately via Facebook to the Delaware State Police or through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
