HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella has announced the arrest of Michael Manis, a retired resident of Hasbrouck Heights, on charges related to a homicide in Hasbrouck Heights.

The arrest resulted from a multi-agency investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department.

On Saturday, August 12, at approximately 5:01 PM, the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department responded to a 911 call from Manis, who reported that he had just arrived home and found his wife deceased. The subsequent investigation determined that Manis had killed his wife on Friday, August 11, and later staged a robbery to cover up the homicide.

On Sunday, August 13, Manis was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree disturbing/desecrating human remains, third-degree hindering the apprehension of oneself, and fourth-degree false report to law enforcement.
