AMITYVILLE, NY – Two First Precinct officers in Amityville, New York, had an extraordinary start to their morning as they helped a local woman deliver her baby in her home on Greybarn Lane.

Officers Michael Stroehlein and Diego Montero responded to a 911 call reporting a woman in labor at 7:42 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Stefanie Andrade, 33, in labor in the bathroom of her apartment.

The officers assisted Andrade in delivering a baby girl and resourcefully used a shoelace to tie off the umbilical cord until EMTs arrived.

Both mother and baby, named Callie, were transported to a local hospital and are reported to be in good condition.
