NEWPORT NEWS, VA – An incident unfolded on Wednesday night when a man was fatally shot on Interstate 664 southbound in Newport News.
Virginia State Police reported that the incident began as a vehicle crash around 6:25 pm near 39th Street.
Upon arrival, the trooper found a critically injured driver inside a 2008 Jeep Compass. The 24-year-old male was declared dead at the location.
State Police further informed that the victim was alone in the car during the incident.
Investigations indicate shots were fired into the passenger side of the vehicle. However, no suspect information is available at the moment.
