Scooter Bandits Targeting New Yorkers for their Headphones

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department is currently investigating a series of robbery incidents that have taken place in NYC.

On Monday, July 3, three distinct incidents occurred:

Around 5:30 pm, in front of 440 East 79th Street, a 20-year-old male was confronted by an unknown man on a two-wheeled vehicle. The assailant struck the victim and attempted to seize his headphones, though he failed to do so.

By 7:40 pm, a similar situation took place in front of 204 East 80th Street. A 24-year-old woman was accosted by an unknown man on a two-wheeled vehicle. The man assaulted her in an attempt to steal her headphones but was unsuccessful.

Later that evening, at approximately 8:10 pm in front of 444 East 82 Street, a 25-year-old woman was approached by a man on a two-wheeled vehicle who successfully took her headphones.

On Friday, July 7, at 6:00 am, another incident was reported near Wallace Avenue and Pelham Parkway. A 42-year-old woman was approached by an unknown individual on a two-wheeled vehicle. Her headphones were forcibly taken from her, but she did not sustain injuries.
