CAMBRIDGE, MD – A domestic disturbance escalated into a barricade situation on Periwinkle Ct, ending in the death of a 54-year-old male suspect. The Cambridge Police Department (CPD) initially responded to a female shooting victim and later found the man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At 7:08pm, CPD officers arrived at the scene and discovered a woman on the 3rd floor with gunshot wounds to her hand and arm. She was safely evacuated and treated at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge.

Authorities were informed that the suspect returned to the apartment and barricaded himself with a shotgun. A joint operation involving CPD, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, and Maryland State Police circled the residence.

Several attempts to contact the man failed.

At 11:20pm, after exhausting all means of communication, SWAT Teams entered the apartment and found the man deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A search revealed a 20-gauge shotgun and spent shell casings. The man’s body was transferred to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Baltimore. The female victim was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for further treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
