Elderly Man Duped in Fake Bail Scam

NEW YORK, NY – An unknown person tricked a 74-year-old man into handing over $9,500 by falsely claiming his son was under arrest and needed bail money.

The incident occurred on Friday, September 15, at approximately 12:30 p.m. The suspect contacted the victim and informed him that his son was in custody. Under false pretenses, the individual coerced the victim into giving him the money in the area of West 62nd Street and Riverside Boulevard.

Authorities confirmed that the victim’s son was never under arrest. After receiving the money, the individual left the area in a vehicle and has not been located. The victim was not physically harmed during the event.

Police are actively investigating the case and have urged the public to be cautious of similar scams.
