SALISBURY, MD – While most people visit Walmart for groceries or household items, a Wicomico County man left the store $50,000 richer after a routine purchase of a Cash Boom scratch-off.

The 66-year-old Salisbury local was on his regular shopping trip at the Fruitland Walmart with his family when he decided to indulge in his weekly scratch-off tradition. This time, though, his $5 instant ticket revealed three matching “dice” symbols, securing him the hefty $50,000 prize. When asked about his win, he remarked, “I play all the time. I wasn’t that surprised that I had won.”

An avid fisherman and a professional carpenter in the Salisbury region, the lucky winner is yet to make plans on how to utilize his newfound wealth. “At this point, I don’t know. I am undecided,” he commented.

For its role in the fortunate event, Walmart #2931 located at 409 North Fruitland Boulevard will be awarded a $500 bonus from the Lottery. This bonus represents 1% of the prize.

This Salisbury man’s win marks the second top prize claimed since the Cash Boom game’s launch on Sept. 18. The inaugural winner hailed from Carroll County. The game still has six top prizes pending claim, along with 13 $5,000 prizes and other amounts varying between $10 and $1,000. Despite being a recent addition, Cash Boom has already secured a spot as the fifth scratch-off on the Lottery’s Top 40 Scratch-off roster.
