Delaware State Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Dover

Delaware State Police are actively investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that took place yesterday afternoon on Hazlettville Road in Dover, Delaware. The incident resulted in the death of an 18-year-old male motorcyclist from Dover.

According to a report from the Delaware State Police Newsroom, “On October 17, 2023, at approximately 5:16 p.m., a red 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling westbound on Hazlettville Road, east of Apple Grove School Road.” The Dodge tried to make a left turn into a private driveway and collided with “a black 2022 Kawasaki EX4 motorcycle that was traveling eastbound” on the same road. The collision caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the bike, eventually coming to rest in the westbound lane.

The 18-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding his name until family and relatives are notified. The 57-year-old male driver of the Dodge Ram, also from Dover, was not injured in the incident.

The accident led to the closure of Hazlettville Road for about four hours as police conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.
