Manhunt Underway for Suspect in Maryland Judge’s Shooting

by Jeff Jones

HAGERSTOWN, MD – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Pedro Argote, 49, believed to be involved in the shooting of Circuit Court Judge Andrew Wilkinson, 52.

The incident occurred in the driveway of Judge Wilkinson’s residence in Hagerstown on Thursday evening.

At the time, the judge’s family was at home. Sheriff Brian Albert, during a news conference on Friday, pointed out that the probable motive was a divorce hearing presided over by Wilkinson.

Earlier on Thursday, Argote’s former spouse was granted custody during the proceedings, which Argote did not attend. Argote is considered to be armed and dangerous.

He is potentially driving a silver 2009 Mercedes GL450 with Maryland license plates 4EH0408. The public is asked to report any information about Argote’s whereabouts to the local police.
