HACKENSACK, NJ – Emergency units responded to 70 Polifly Road at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Friday following a report of a possible collapse. Arriving firefighters from Engine 2, Rescue 1, and Deputy 3 discovered a collapsed front awning that had injured one construction worker.
First aid was administered to the injured male by firefighters, who then assisted HUMC ALS and BLS teams in preparing the patient for transport to Hackensack University Medical Center.
Firefighters also secured power to the collapsed awning to ensure safety. City Building Department, Electrical Inspector, and Fire Prevention officials were notified and arrived at the scene for assessments.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been informed and will investigate the incident.
