Newark Mourns Loss of Veteran Police Officer Darryl Cheeks

NEWARK, NJ — Newark Police Sergeant Darryl A. Cheeks, age 47, died unexpectedly on November 2, Mayor Ras J. Baraka and Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé announced with profound sorrow.

Mayor Baraka expressed deep sadness at the loss of Sergeant Cheeks, who had been a steadfast presence since Baraka’s early days in office.
