Bronx Man Charged with Firearm Possession Following Fatal Shooting

BRONX, NY — A 26-year-old man was apprehended and charged early Thursday morning in connection with a fatal shooting in the Bronx. Fares Alhazmi, of East Tremont Avenue, faces charges of criminal possession of a firearm after a 23-year-old man was found shot to death.

Authorities responded to a distress call on Wednesday, November 8, after a male with a gunshot wound was discovered at 251 East Tremont Avenue. The victim, identified as Romel Carey of Wilkes-Barre, PA, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services.

Alhazmi’s arrest follows an intense investigation by the 46th Precinct into the incident. The case remains under active investigation as detectives pursue further leads.
