Silver Spring Man Arrested for Homicide of Disabled Relative

SILVER SPRING, MD – A tragic case has unfolded in Silver Spring, where 55-year-old Charles Parker has been charged in connection with the death of his disabled relative, Leon Perkins, aged 66. Montgomery County Police have ruled the death a homicide following an investigation.

The incident came to light on December 1, 2023, when police were called to an apartment on Heather Hollow Circle at around 7:07 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Perkins, who had serious medical issues, deceased in a wheelchair. Initial findings indicated signs of trauma on his body.

Parker, who had been caring for Perkins, initially reported to Perkins’ wife that he had fallen. However, when she arrived at the apartment, she found Perkins dead. An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is pending to provide further details.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division identified Parker as the suspect through their investigation. On December 6, Parker was arrested and is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
