Cumberland Police Arrest Two on Warrants

CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department (CPD) has successfully executed warrants resulting in two arrests on December 22.

The first incident involved a traffic stop on Oldtown Road. The driver, identified as Jonathon Emerick, 41, of Cumberland, MD, was discovered to have an active arrest warrant. Emerick was arrested at the scene and taken to Allegany County Detention Center. He faces charges of first-degree assault, false imprisonment, and second-degree assault.

In a separate incident, CPD officers observed Dominic James Berman Briggs, 29, also of Cumberland, MD, on Gulf Memorial Drive. Briggs, who had an active bench warrant for a grand jury indictment, was arrested without incident. He is charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) other than marijuana, possession with intent to distribute narcotics, and distribution of narcotics.
