Newark Police Ask Public for Help Identifying Suspect in Fraud Investigation

NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Department of Public Safety is requesting public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a recent fraud incident. Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has released details concerning the case that occurred on December 19 and December 20, 2023.

The suspect is accused of using a victim’s debit card to make unauthorized purchases totaling $10,557.32. These transactions took place at a Walmart store located in Union, New Jersey. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, who was seen driving a Cadillac XT5. Notably, the suspect was wearing a distinct “The North Face” hooded sweatshirt or jacket, accompanied by black Nike sweatpants and gray sneakers.

The Newark Public Safety Department urges anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to come forward. This appeal to the public forms a crucial part of their efforts to apprehend the individual responsible for the fraudulent transactions.
