Los Angeles Man Wanted for Smothering, Shooting Woman’s Dog

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Los Angeles Police Department is actively searching for David Sumlin, 32, following a domestic dispute that turned violent on January 2. Sumlin is wanted for charges of domestic violence and animal cruelty.During the incident, Sumlin allegedly threatened to kill a 4-month-old puppy or its owner, presenting a chilling ultimatum. According to the police statement, Sumlin smothered the dog with a pillow and pointed a firearm at it, firing two shots. The victim was given a choice between their life and the pet’s.The puppy was taken to a local animal shelter by the responding officers but unfortunately succumbed to its injuries.Sumlin’s relationship to the victim remains unclear. He is described as transient and known to frequent the area around 7th Street and Stanford Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. The public has been warned to exercise caution, as Sumlin is believed to be armed. The LAPD urges anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
