False Weapon Report in Alexandria Deemed a ‘Swatting’ Incident

by Dinesh Patel

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Alexandria Police Department (APD) officers responded to a reported weapon violation in the 800 block of Clovercrest Drive today, which was later determined to be a swatting incident.

The APD received a call about a possible weapon violation, prompting an immediate response from officers. However, upon arrival and investigation, it was concluded that the incident was unfounded. Law enforcement officials have identified the report as a swatting call – a false emergency report intended to draw a large police response to a specific location.

No injuries or damages were reported as a result of the incident. The APD is currently investigating the origins of the swatting call.
