Chester Player Wins $30,000 with Happy Pawlidays! Scratch-Off

by Jessica Woods

A Chester resident has claimed the final top prize of $30,000 from the South Carolina Education Lottery’s Happy Pawlidays! scratch-off game. The winner, who chose the $2 ticket for its affordability, made her lucky purchase at the Center Express at 300 Center St. in Chester.

Her initial reaction to winning was one of shock, but she has since relaxed after claiming her prize. The Happy Pawlidays! game, which featured six South Carolina dogs chosen through a photo contest last spring, has now ended. The tickets, which went on sale in October, presented players with odds of 1 in 480,000 for winning the top prize.

Center Express, the retailer where the winning ticket was sold, received a $300 commission for their role in this lucky win.
